Due to the thunderstorm tonight’s meeting is cancelled.
Due to the high temperature expected tonight the meeting has been cancelled.
Due to this weekend’s predicted extreme heat conditions Regional has been postponed until next weekend the 18th and 19th February.
A big thanks to Robyn Preston and James Purdie for taking on the club Secretary and Treasurer roles.

We trust that all our athletes and supporters are well and had an enjoyable winter.
It is time to dust off the spikes and start thinking athletics … Rio Olympics next year so time to get busy!
Just some housekeeping for the new season.

- We start our season on Friday 9th of October with our first trial night – chance to shake off the cobwebs and get back into the athletics groove.
- Our first competition night is Friday the 16th of October. That’s where the kids run for points and we have official times and places. We get underway at 6.30pm and generally run for 90 mins to 2 hours.
- We have a break over Christmas (TBC) and resume mid January.
- Location is Smyth Field in Central Maitland, near No 1 Sportsground.
- We have accredited coaches providing support and coaching for anyone interested – at this stage Monday and Wednesday afternoon between 5 and 6pm. Not compulsory but a great chance for our athletes to improve.
- Uniforms will be available at the trial nights and the first three weeks on competition.
Firstly, on behalf of the club we hope and trust our members and supporters have made it through the recent storm and deluge without too many disruptions or damage to self and/or property.
Mirroring plenty of areas around Maitland and surrounds Smyth Field was under water for the best part of a week. We look forward to the field returning to peak condition for the school athletic carnivals.
We had the club AGM originally scheduled for the 21st of April. An East Coast Low changed those arrangements pretty quickly! Please note we have rescheduled the AGM for this Tuesday the 12th of May. 7pm start and thank you to East Maitland Bowling Club for providing the venue.
The club only exists by the good graces and efforts of our members and supporters. Please make it – the AGM’s usually only run for 30 mins – and please put the hand up to assist on the committee for next season. We are losing some committee members and the club cannot exist by the efforts of only a few diehard supporters. We had a great turnout at the Presentation Day so let’s leverage that support into a hands on willingness to help out. The smallest intentions or offers of assistance will go miles to help.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you next Tuesday. Cheers, the committee.
Great turnout yesterday at the Presentation Day and thank you to everyone who made it.
A huge thanks to our committee, particularly Rowena and Brett, who made it happen. Logistically it was a huge effort to get all the events and times collated, processed and awards subsequently minted.
Lots of beaming faces and happy athletes so thanks to our parents and supporters who joined us.
We have our AGM tomorrow night. PLEASE ………… help us to make a better club for our kids by joining us from 7PM. The AGM is not an all nighter so you’ll be home at a reasonable hour.
We NEED input from our talented and fantastic supporter base to get more ideas. We need to find some more hours to implement new events, sponsorship programs, coaching events.
Many hands make …….. LIGHT WORK. They really do. As I outlined yesterday Peter and Graeme are at Smyth from 4PM every Friday. Mowing, line marking, allocating equipment. Then Peter goes to set up the BBQ and Graeme grabs the starters gun.
We need to share the load and become sustainable with our volunteer efforts. We need more ideas and input to continue our momentum.
We have a great club and community – please join us tomorrow to keep it.
Gazing anxiously towards the heavens ….. rain seems to be easing so at this stage we are ON for tonight.
Pete and Jen are firing up the hot dogs for a change of pace and we are running with program B tonight, so any starters for the 3000m need to be assembled with Weston at 6.10.
Per Brett’s email earlier this week:
As this week will be the final competition night I will be finalising all results and calculating points for presentation night soon after.
I would appreciate if you could please check your children’s results to make sure that there are no entries missing or if there are any anomalies (i.e. I made a mistake during data entry)
If you find anything you would like fixed please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are booked in for the club presentation – April 19 at Maitland City Bowling Club, for a 2PM start. Please note that all family members are welcome and we hope for a great turnout. Maitland City Bowling Club have graciously waived their room hire charge so many thanks to MCBC for their generous support. We will confirm drink and facilities closer to the event.
Look forward to seeing you tonight for our last night of the season. If the weather turns nasty and Noah is spotted bobbing around High St we will advise any possible cancelation.
Program A tonight so the 1500m to finish proceedings. Peter is back on the BBQ so bring your appetite!
Tonight is the 2nd last night for the 2014/15 season so hope to see as many athletes and supporters as possible.
One for the diary – the annual club presentation is on Sunday the 19th of April at Maitland City Bowling Club, for a 2pm start. Yes, we are going for the daytime presentation. Of course you can still wear your finest evening attire if you so wish.
LANSW State Titles are on March 20 to 22 so best of luck to our competitors for their preparation.
